Frequently Asked Questions

SOM Therapy reports completed CE credits to CE Broker within 24 hours of course completion and passing.

How To Get My Course, Take My Test, and Get My Certificate:

After you finish the exam and are ready to fill out your course eval and get your certificate, simply click the white button at the top of the screen that says: COMPLETE COURSE. Once you do that, your eval and certificate will be offered. (Please allow about 10 seconds for the certificate to upload to your screen – once it has, you will see download/print buttons on the right side of the screen.Who might you meet at a seminar?

Once you register and complete the order, you’ll want to click on PROFILE at the top-right of the screen. Once in your profile, go to ENROLLED COURSES/CERTIFICATES. All courses you order will be available here.

Before you click START LEARNING, notice the HANDOUTS link below the book image. You will likely want to download those before beginning.

Once you click START LEARNING, you will notice course sections listed on the left. As each section is complete, click the arrow (at the end of your read) to go to the next section (it will auto-check off your completion of the previous section).

Once you’ve completed all sections, review them to ensure each has been checked off. If any are not, you can complete them by clicking the empty bubble. Go on to take your test (you cannot go into the course once you are in the exam, that’s why I give a copy of the test questions in the handouts – you can have them with you when reading).

Professionals from varied healthcare fields attend SOM continuing education seminars: massage therapists, physical therapists, nurses, exercise physiologists, chiropractors, mental healthcare professionals, and those in general and specialized medicine.

Seminar Attendance and CE Credits

This provider is guided by the state and national massage rules and laws but considers full attendance to be a requisite for full CE credit. If a therapist arrives late or leaves early or misses any time during the presentation, that time will be removed from the credit given at the end of the seminar. (Unless stated differently by your state board; it may be possible that a state has an all or nothing policy).

For states accepting partial CE credits, such as attending just six hours of a 12-hr seminar or missing time during the presentation, reported hours are adjusted accordingly.

There is no make-up time for missing seminar hours.

Therapists signing up for seminars that have FREE home studies promoted within a seminar product must be paid in full and attend the seminar to receive CE credits for the FREE home study portion.

What are Seminar Teaching Processes used to Ensure Successful Learning?

In seminars, we address visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning needs. With home studies, therapists participate through visual, and depending on the course, through auditory and kinesthetic methods.

Where do SOM Providers Obtain their Teaching Material?

SOM uses medical publications, scientific studies, conferences, periodicals, world/local news, documentaries, various media programs, in-person interviews, local/overseas clinical and other associated work/teaching, Internet research, public research, and from over 50 years of field experience.

Is there a Course Evaluation Process?

Yes. There is an evaluation page offered upon test completion with a space to add whatever additional comments you wish to describe your course experience. For adding in comments, consider the following: mention your favorite part of the course, if the course met your needs and expectations, if the material learned will enhance your career or benefit your clients in specific ways, and would you recommend this company to other therapists?

How do I Sign Up for SEMINARS?

When you purchase a seminar, your name will be added to the selected seminar’s attendance list that is privately kept by the CE Provider. If someone else purchases your seminar, your name and license # must be entered to receive a correct certificate at the end of the class.

A downloadable class itinerary with instructions is provided on your course/seminar page along with any handouts for the class.

What if I do not pass the test?

You may take the test up to five times at no extra charge.

Can I review the missed questions?

Upon grading, follow the prompts to view missed questions.

Do you report credits to my state board?

We report credits to Louisiana State Board and to CE Broker.

What is the Testing Procedure for Home Studies?

Courses are organized using section or chapter bars labeled as Section or Chapter 1, 2, 3, and so on. The test is indicated by a dedicated section bar located at the bottom of the course section bars. To test, simply click on “Take or Begin Test” and begin answering the questions.

Is there a Time Limit for Taking Tests?

No, we no longer have a mandatory time limit for testing. Still, completing the course within 90 days of purchase is always best, or at least before the end of your renewal cycle. Waiting longer could cause forfeiture due to course discontinuation. There may be more fees associated with additional assistance due to course or state board updates. If a course is discontinued or a board does not approve it on the following renewal cycle, you will be unable to retake the test.

How do I Obtain my CE Certificate?

The CE certificate is offered upon passing the course. You can also log in to your account to retrieve it at any time upon completion.

Do I Read my Course from your Website?

YES. Home study courses are read online. A free downloadable abridged course copy is available on the course page for your massage library, along with a preview of test questions to print and use while reading online, to check answers and copy into the final test.

Are the Test Questions Difficult? How are the Questions Asked?

Some courses are more comprehensive than others. The most comprehensive courses are Spinal Curvatures and Vibration Therapy. If you read the material thoroughly from start to finish, staying focused and not rushing or skipping parts, the test won’t seem difficult. Please keep in mind that an effective learning experience generally includes a certain degree of difficulty. Selecting a course that presents an appropriate challenge is commendable and a source of pride upon completion.
