COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Human trafficking is concerning to massage therapists because illicit massage establishments threaten the integrity and safety of the massage profession, primarily through discrimination based on perception.
This PowerPoint video covers the definition, identification, and differentiation of types of human trafficking, as well as associated laws and penalties. It discusses how to develop awareness skills for ethical reporting of suspected traffickers and victims. Topics range from H.T. (human trafficking) methods of recruiting to recognizing red flags of fake massage businesses. The course informs on how to prevent human trafficking from entering the professional massage therapy field, which includes establishment owners and LMTs working as therapists in spas, hair and nail salons, and medical facilities.
