NOTE: Although this 12-hour course is approved for CE credits by Louisiana LABMT only, our 6-hour Scars and Burns home study is approved by Florida BOM and NCBTMB.
The Massage Therapy for Scars and Burns home study prepares massage therapists to work with individuals with these conditions. It also includes a section on scars unrelated to burns. Both include sample massage work, photos, and explanations.
The course begins with a thorough preliminary study, followed by sections on burn rehabilitation; post-burn rehabilitation (including massage integration); pediatric scar management; related psychological effects; the role of massage; nutrition for scar healing; research studies that incorporate massage therapy; and, finally, chapter reviews.
Massage Therapy for Scars and Burns is considered a medical massage course at the intermediate to advanced level. It is a “specialized” study, meaning one would need this information to work professionally and safely with people with scars and burns. Specialization does not imply harder work but usually the opposite–that such distinctive courses add to one’s higher knowledge of a particular subject with reduced yet precise physical application to achieve long-lasting therapeutic results.
So that you know, this course contains graphic visuals due to its subject matter.
